Koi feeding is important and requires some skill, both in terms of timing and amount of feeding.

Koi are omnivorous fish and never refuse artificial feeds in addition to natural feeds such as plant fragments, shrimps, red blooded worms, water earthworms, silkworm pupae, benthic animals and algae. At present, there are many varieties of koi feeds, of which the main ingredients include starch, fat, protein, vitamins and inorganic salts, etc., which are very nutritious and easy to feed.

However, because koi are special, it is necessary to feed them color-enhancing feeds in addition to ordinary growth feeds. Otherwise, the most valuable and high-quality varieties will degenerate into ordinary koi over time, or even revert to their ancestral--Koi body color. This color-enhancing or color-raising feed is specially made to maintain or increase the color of koi, and its main ingredient is the muscle pigment (compound xanthophylls) from salmon and trout, and the red part of the koi will be significantly enhanced after taking it. Red is the main color of koi, so red and white koi are extremely popular.

When feeding koi feed, it is important to feed them regularly and quantitatively.

Insufficient feeding, the fish body will be weakened, resistance will decline, prone to various diseases. Even if not sick, the fish body will be obviously fat, losing its beautiful and robust streamlined body shape, affecting the ornamental effect.

Therefore, the body shape and color of koi are closely related to the control and mastery of feed feeding, and the appetite and growth of koi are closely related to the water environment, the water environment is comfortable, and when the water temperature is suitable, you can feed more beverages, and the growth of the fish will be accelerated. Therefore, in the spring and fall of the fish body rapid growth period, you can properly increase the feeding amount of feed, which is the golden season of koi growth. In addition, some natural feeds, such as red-blooded worms and water earthworms, can be added appropriately at this stage to regulate the appetite of the fish.
